CARLOW JOBS CLUB

-Excuse me do you have any vacancies?
-No, but drop in your CV and we will call you and let you know if something comes up
Almost every immigrant seeking employment in Ireland must have heard such a response. But where can you get so many CVs from? To have 10 CVs printed in internet cafe you have to pay 2 Euro, which seems very little. But you have to spend another Euro for using the pc. It makes 3 Euro, which isn’t that little when your budget is very limited, especially at the beginning. The prices are similar in other Internet cafes. Luckily, there is a better solution.

The regular and popular Polish nights organised in Nancy Whiskeys for the last two months have led to setting up the Polish pub. The owner says there will be Polish beer, TV, music and Polish parties (karaoke, concerts and discos). The Polish nights will continue to take place on Tuesdays as well as Fridays.

Places worth visiting

Killeshin romanesque church
Carlow, Irlandia, Killeshin, Foto: Krystian KozerawskiThe Killeshin church was erected in the 12th century, where a 5th century monastery had stood, destroyed in 1077. The village was named after the very church (Cill Uisean). The most interesting architectural element of the building is its romanesque portal built between 1150 and 1160. The low reliefs show zoomorphic motives, faces as well as characteristic knotwork (influenced by the Scandinavian art of Vikings), typical of Ireland.

Pubs and Nightclubs

Racey Byrnes

Racey Byrnes, Carlow.plThe pub is just next door to the Carlovian pub. There are 3 rooms inside; one for those who like chatting, another one is relatively quiet while the last one has a fireplace. The interior is decorated in an original way.
