Safe Pass

In order to work in the construction industry or archeological excavations, a Safe Pass card is required. The card indicates that you have completed a health and safety course and it enables you to work on building or excavation sites, warehouses or as a security guard. Safe Pass is required by employers, usually before we commence work. Sometimes, your job application may be turned down if you haven’t attended a Safe Pass course.

Blessing the food – the cathedral was full

carlow, ireland, community, spolecznoscCarlow, święcenie pokarmów w katedrzeToday, on Holy Saturday, the Poles living in Ireland, regardless of their political or religious beliefs, went to church to join the Mass and take part in the blessing of food, which was to be consumed on the Easter table. The Carlow cathedral was overcrowded and some of the faithful had to stay outside by the main entrance.

Leaving the church with wicker baskets in their hands, our compatriots attracted attention of Irish passers-by. Some of them stopped to ask what was happening in the cathedral.

Places worth visiting

Killeshin romanesque church
Carlow, Irlandia, Killeshin, Foto: Krystian KozerawskiThe Killeshin church was erected in the 12th century, where a 5th century monastery had stood, destroyed in 1077. The village was named after the very church (Cill Uisean). The most interesting architectural element of the building is its romanesque portal built between 1150 and 1160. The low reliefs show zoomorphic motives, faces as well as characteristic knotwork (influenced by the Scandinavian art of Vikings), typical of Ireland.
